We believe that true fluency comes from more than just memorizing words and phrases; it comes from experiencing the soul of the language. Through exploring music, poetry, and literature, we aim to help you internalize Tigrinya in a way that is enjoyable and long-lasting.

Traditional and new music, poetry, literature and the stories of some of the most well known artists and authors reflect the history, values, and emotions of the people. By learning Tigrinya and its rich nuances, you will not only appreciate the beauty of the language but also understand the stories and sentiments embedded in the culture. All while, getting a glimpse into the soul of Tigrinya speakers.

Ruth Tewelde is a linguist and founder of SEMAI Kids and Semai Language Academy. As a polyglot constantly in the process of learning a new language, Ruth shares her deep passion for the culture with the method that has been working for her language skills acquisition for years. This self-proclaimed ‘Culture Cupid’s mission is to connect the diaspora to their roots and make them fall in love with their rich culture. Ruth's unique approach to the “Tigrinya Conversation & Culture” course is deeply rooted in the commitment to to inspire the diaspora to learn about their roots and embrace their culture. For Ruth, this course is a brick of the bridge that is needed to connect the diaspora to the homeland.
